Ubisoft has just announced Far Cry 4, following up the very successful entry into the franchise from 2012.

The publisher has given a release date alongside the reveal as well: the title is set for launch on November 18 in North America. There is little limit to the platforms Far Cry 4 will appear on either, available on that date for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
The developers also released the box art and a location, which will be somewhere in the remote Himalays. Far Cry 3 was praised for its lush, open jungle environments and attractive graphics, something Ubisoft will be looking to replicate in its successor.

"Far Cry 4 will be set in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous, and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic, self-appointed king. This is not your standard FPS," writes Ubisoft Content Producer Michael Madavi on the PlayStation Blog.
"You will be equipped with a vast array of weapons, animals, and vehicles, and our highly detailed and interactive open-world will let players write their own story across an exotic and varied landscape."
Pre-orders are available now and come with bonuses, including an automatic upgrade to the Limited Edition. The special version includes the content Hurk's Redemption, which is three new singleplayer missions featuring the character from Far Cry 3. You also receive an in-game weapon--Hurk's special harpoon called "The Impaler".
Far Cry 3 was critically acclaimed and well-received commercially, so there should be large expectations placed on its sequel--hopefully it will be original rather than too much of a repeat.
