'Watch Dogs' Release Date: Gone Gold, Not 1080p, PS4 Is 900p, Xbox One Is 792p, Both Consoles 30fps

It Turns Out That Watch Dogs Isn't 1080p Anywhere

So much for Sony's statement that the PS4 would be the only place to find Watch Dogs in 1080p! It turns out that there isn't a place to get the game in that resolution - both next-gen consoles will come in under the coveted resolution, and both will only sport 30 frames per second.

Good news for fans though- the game has just gone gold, which means that it will indeed be finally releasing on May 27, high resolution or not.

"It's exciting to be gold," Creative Director Jonathan Morin said in a statement. "But it'll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it's true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it's not done until they actually have it in their hands."

Rockstar Working On Next-Gen Title For This Year

But wait- why did Sony say otherwise? Just a few days ago on their site they stated that "only the PS4 can rovide 1080p, 60 fp", but that was a complete misprint. They do have a higher resolution than the Xbox One but it's not quite there.

As revealed by Morin on the Ubiblog- "On new-gen systems the game will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on Xbox One, at 30 frames-per-second on both consoles. While some new-gen games now offer native 1080p, Morin says it's much more important to deliver an amazing next-gen experience than it is to push a few more pixels onto a screen."

So much for that. Titanfall is another game that hit the strange number of 792p. PC owners must be laughing their heads off at the so-called next-gen systems, while they all update to 4k.

Regardless, the game looks amazing and we only have two weeks to find out for ourselves.
