Trilobyte's The 7th Guest and 11th Hour were big screams in the early days of PC gaming, and with two hits under its belt, third time's the charm, as the developer is looking make the series into a trilogy, announcing plans to make The 7th Guest 3: The Collector. And they're asking for your help to pull it off.
The Future of Horror Games Belongs to the Indies
Triblobyte has turned to crowdfunding via CrowdtiltOpen, and things are off to a good start so far, with close to half of the initial $65,000 goal already met. That means that a playable beta should be well on its way thanks to the support from 300 odd fans. If the goal is met, you can expect the game to release on PC, Linux, Mac, and iOS.
"We've reconstituted much of our original team and received ringing endorsements from all, including a ‘greenlight' from the Steam community" said Rob Landeros, Trilobyte's Co-Founder, Creative Director, and CEO.
Fans of the first games will also be happy to hear that original team members, including Robert Hirschboeck (Henry Stauf), Tommy Tallarico, David Wheeler, and John Fricker, have returned to the team. Even "The Fatman" (George Alistair Sanger) has consented to allow his original music to be incorporated into The 7th Guest 3: The Collector.
There are also plans to bring The 7th Guest beyond the video game medium. Alongside plans for the new game, Trilobyte also announced a newly signed agreement with Angel Valley Media to license The 7th Guest for film and television treatments. The company's most well-known property are the "Resident Evil" movies and the "Capture" television series on the CW Newtork.
"The 7th Guest is a landmark in gaming history," said Angel Valley president Matthew Lewis. "Bringing Henry Stauf and the rich universe of the series to life in film was inevitable. We'll be working side-by-side with Trilobyte Games to give players a new look into Stauf's world, with new storylines and characters tightly interwoven with the game series." More on that project as news develops.
