A new expansion set for "Pokemon TCG Pocket" has been announced and is called "Space-Time Smackdown."

The announcement also comes alongside a new trailer that teases the new set and some of the cards that will be added with it. The stars of the "Space-Time Smackdown" expansion set are legendary Pokemon Dialga and Palkia of the Sinnoh region.

New Pokemon TCG Pocket Expansion Set

On top of featuring the base forms of the two legendaries, the "Space-Time Smackdown expansion set also includes their Ex versions. The new set will be coming to the mobile game on Jan. 29, 2025, and is the A2 set.

The "Space-Time Smackdown" expansion set features more than 140 cards, including new Pokemon Ex cards, Trainer cards, and new immersive cards that have stunning animations. So far, it seems like the new set is focused more on Pokemon that are found in the Sinnoh region.

Some of the Pokemon that have been teased to be included in the new expansion set are Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Pachirisu, Leafeon, Hunchkrow, Gible, and Cresselia. What's more, all of these cards will come with Trainer cards for Cynthia and a lot more, according to Pokemon Go Hub.

The trailer for the expansion confirmed the release date for the new trading feature that will be added to the game. This is coming on Jan. 28, 2025, and will allow trading to be done between friends and only for cards that have the same rarity.

More Than 140 Cards

Additionally, cards that are available in the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island (A1a) sets can still be traded to other players. Right now, the developer plans to expand trading to other sets.

It is also expected that the new expansion set will also follow the format of the trading card game's original set, Genetic Apex, One Esports said.

Another thing that players may have noticed in "Pokemon TCG Pocket" is that they can filter for Pokemon Tool cards. However, there is nothing here as the game currently does not have any cards of this category implemented.

However, this appears to be changing following the announcement of the "Space-Time Smackdown" expansion set. The cards that will be added with it would most likely include new Tool cards that will finally fill up that filter in the game's menu.

Fans also saw the Pachirisu Ex card having a move known as Sparkling Gadget, that references having a Pokemon Tool attached. This is the first mention of this category other than the filter system, according to Polygon.
