Vocations in "Dragon's Dogma II" are basically the classes of characters that determine their fighting style and abilities.
However, there are times when players choose a vocation for their party members that they regret somewhere down the line. Fortunately, the game gives you a chance to change vocations, and it is actually actively encouraged to do so.
This is because there are so many vocations to choose from in "Dragon's Dogma II" that each cater to a different need and playstyle. This means that it is much more fun and engaging to switch vocations every now and then, especially after you unlock more.
How To Unlock Changing of Vocations
At first, you will be locked to one of the four starting vocations in the game, which are Archer, Fighter, Mage, and Thief. Before you are allowed to change your vocations in "Dragon's Dogma II," you will need to reach the city of Vernworth, according to Polygon.
After arriving in this area, you need to go to the Vernworth Vocation Guild, which is located under Shakir's Inn just south of the town square. Go inside and speak with Klaus at the counter, where he will help you with changing your vocation.
How To Change Vocations
This is where you can start to switch up your vocations whenever you have a chance to do so. You have to select the "change vocation" option in the menu and then select any of the other available vocations.

The process also requires you to pay a one-time fee of 100 DSP for starting vocations and 150 DSP for advanced vocations. There is also a fee for both yourself and your main pawn, which is relatively negligible with how much you earn throughout the game.
You can also change vocations in other areas in the world, such as The Inn in Melve and the Bakbattahl Vocation Guild. The way of changing vocations is the same for all of these areas, Rock Paper Shotgun said.
Is Changing Vocations Worth It?
Now that you know when and how you can change your vocation, the question you may have is if it is actually worth it to do so. The short and simple answer to this is yes, because there are many benefits to it without any real downsides.
Unlocking more vocations lets you gain access to various new skills and improvements that make your runs much more exciting. Additionally, each vocation caters to specific playstyles, and having the option to use any of them gives you more strategic depth if you have problems with certain enemies or quests.
Lastly, vocations can only be leveled up to rank 10, which is somewhat low for the game as character level can be increased without limit. This means that using a vocation past this point wastes valuable experience points that could be used to level other vocations, according to Game Rant.
