A new PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Game Science's "Black Myth: Wukong" was recently released, which improves the base game code to give better performance and provide slight graphical improvements.
When "Black Myth: Wukong" was released in August 2024, it immediately became a commercial hit for its blend of challenging boss battles and intense combat mechanics. The game, made on Unreal Engine 5, sold millions of copies throughout the gaming industry.
New Black Myth: Wukong Patch
However, the game's configuration on the PlayStation 5 was somewhat of a letdown as it featured unusual frame-rate locks and frame generation with only a 30fps base frame rate. The developer has since addressed some of these concerns in a new patch for "Black Myth: Wukong."
Furthermore, the studio has now put out PlayStation 5 Pro support for the game that uses PSSR to improve image quality. The most obvious change in the latest patch is the new sharpening slider, according to Eurogamer.

When no sharpening is applied, the game's image looks soft but relatively free of aliased edges. But if you choose to put it up to five, which is the default setting, you get an image that is the standard for lower-res current-gen console games.
If you instead choose to bring it to the maximum of 10, you see the highest amount of crispiness, and it is best used by players who want to max out on local contrast. The base PlayStation 5 version of the game, while in performance configuration, matches a seven on the new settings.
Various New Features
Another thing about the new patch is that the Quality mode for "Black Myth: Wukong" is fixed to 30fps with no generated frames. However, Game Science decided to lower both the internal resolution and the upsampling (output) resolution, Dual Shockers said.
The addition of PSSR support for the game adds it to the list of titles that include this particular feature, such as "Silent Hill 2" and "Alan Wake 2." The patch notes also introduce the new 120Hz output in "Black Myth: Wukong's" Balanced mode, improved individual scenes, and unspecified enhancements.
Despite the advantages of PSSR support, some of the other titles that have it have faced issues with it. Fortunately, Game Science has made this particular setting for "Black Myth: Wukong" toggleable on or off.
Additionally, the new update improves the game's input response in Performance mode while also optimizing the performance of many boss fights. There were also many features added to both the PC and PlayStation 5 versions, including the new "Challenge" gameplay mode, according to Game Rant.
