The latest update for Game Science's soulslike Black Myth: Wukong adds a variety of new content and features, including a boss rush mode, shrine challenges, and many more.
The patch comes as fans of the game have known for quite some time now that the developer planned to put out several surprises before the end of the year. This was primarily due to teasing from the director.
Black Myth: Wukong Update
Some of the new additions in the latest update are Keeper's Shrine challenges that you can unlock after finishing the game's story. These come in two forms: Return of Rivals and Gauntlet of Legends.
Both of these modes bring back previously defeated enemies so you can engage with them in a rematch battle. Return of Rivals features one-on-one battles that let you take on former foes in a duel across one of three levels of difficulty that you can choose from, according to Eurogamer.

On the other hand, Gauntlet of Legends features several returning enemies, with some having new moves, you need to battle in succession. The difficulty of this mode is based on customizable curses that you can tweak.
If you successfully complete a gauntlet, you will be rewarded with rare treasures. Game Science warned players that the challenges would not be available if their corresponding enemies had not yet been defeated in the main game.
Various New Content and Features
Another inclusion of the new update is letting players get their hands on Journeyer's Charts that feature landscapes organized "for guidance and marking." These are essentially maps and are unlocked after meeting the Keeper in Black Wind Mountain, Comic Book said.
There are also four new special armor pieces that were crafted as part of celebrations for the upcoming Chinese New Year. You can claim these directly through "Trailblazer's Gift" at any Keeper's Shrine after installing the new update.
The new boss rush mode for Black Myth: Wukong comes as the game has been out for several months now. This has given players a lot of time to progress through the main game and defeat enemies needed to unlock their new mode counterparts.
The inclusions of the new update are testaments to Game Science's commitment to fixing problematic areas of the game. The new maps come as some locations could feel difficult to navigate and can be somewhat disorienting.
There is also a new Music Library function added to the game that gives players the option to choose their favorite soundtrack. You can use this to listen to all the material you want in the game, according to Screen Rant.
