Rumors suggest that Valve's Steam Controller 2 is moving forward in development and is already at the stage where it can enter mass production.
Valve insider Brad Lynch claims that the next iteration of the company's Steam Controller, codenamed "Ibex," is now in deep development. He noted that the new controller is "being tooled for mass production" inside factories.
Steam Controller 2
Lynch added that the Steam Controller 2 is already in its latter stages of productization and is closer to coming out to the public. On top of this, the insider claimed that the new controller will feature symmetrical sticks that are not too different from Steam Deck input.
He also talked about a controller codenamed "Roy" that was designed for Valve's "Deckard" virtual reality headset. It seems like the device is not only heading for mass production but will also come with a variety of hardware features.
These include a directional pad, bumpers, grip buttons, triggers, ABXY buttons, and a system button. There is also a lot of speculation that the controller will be able to work as a standalone separate from "Deckard," according to Insider Gaming.

The Valve insider did not provide any concrete timeline on when players can actually expect to see or hear anything official about the Steam Controller 2. This is also true for any information regarding Deckard and Roy.
So far, Valve itself has not yet provided any details or acknowledged the rumors regarding any of the devices. This has only caused fans to speculate even more on whether or not the products are real or just baseless rumors.
A Potential Successor
This comes despite the company saying two years ago that it wanted to have a successor to the Steam Controller. The base model is popular for being highly customizable with its buttons and touchpads, The Verge said.
Lynch's claims about Deckard stem from his discovery of references to a new wand-like controller in Valve's Steam VR code. Previous rumors about Roy also claimed that the device has an Arm chip inside of it.
Many fans are now looking forward to what Valve actually plans to do with the products that have been rumored to be in development. It is also interesting to think about what the Steam Controller 2 could actually bring to the industry.
The original version was already impressive enough and made it easier for a lot of people to have more fun with their favorite games, according to XDA Developers.
