Riot Games is teasing more plans for future animated shows following the success of its Arcane TV series.
The company's co-founder, Mark Merrill, revealed that they decided to cancel season 3 for Arcade because the team wanted to explore other universes. He also denied that they simply wanted to pull out of entertainment.
Riot Games' Plans for Arcane
This comes as Arcane was reported to be one of the most expensive animated series created. However, it became one of the most successful shows available in the market. The show's two seasons both topped Netflix charts when they were released.
Both fans of the series and newcomers to the franchise seemingly enjoyed the story of the League of Legends universe. The news that Arcane will not be getting a third season disappointed many fans of the show.
Merrill responded to one user about the issue, saying that the reason for the decision was that there were "lots of other stories to tell." This refers to the massive in-game lore that the League of Legends franchise is known for, according to Dexerto.

He also said that their objective in the entertainment industry has not changed. He argued that they never planned to operate similarly to a traditional studio that has traditional timelines. They reportedly realized that getting it right needed a lot of time, more than they originally expected.
This forced them to recalibrate their development, output goals, and teams keeping that realization in mind. Merrill also urged people not to listen to so-called "naysayers" regarding the cost of making Arcane and the amount keeping Riot Games from making other shows.
Future Adaptations
It is believed that there are two more projects that Riot Games is planning on that are based on the League of Legends brand. Merrill said that the company purchased an "entire season's worth of scripts" for a live-action series based on the popular series, Game Rant said.
The supposed series is being written by Justin Piasecki, who is the screenwriter behind the recent movie Relay. Another noteworthy information about this project is that it would supposedly be a live-action rather than an animated show.
An Arcane showrunner revealed that some of the show's massive budget includes marketing costs that are associated with the release of the series. Christian Linke said that this was not inherently part of the series' budget.
He also argued that the budget for the show was given because of their desire to create something that was of high quality. Linke noted that they had to take risky bets in order to provide fans with something amazing, according to Games Radar.
