Multiplayer open-world survival game Icarus has a lot of content and mechanics for players to master. These all help you survive longer throughout the game.
It takes some time to master the basics of the game and even more time to make things efficient when playing in a group with other people. The story follows players landing on an alien planet to fix up a botched terraforming job.
You are now tasked with collecting various rare materials and returning to base before the time limit expires. Icarus has a mission-based structure that makes it unique even among other survival titles in the genre.
This guide gives out some beginner's tips and tricks to help players learn the basics of the game. These recommendations will give you some leeway to make surviving during the early stages much easier.
Use a Cave as a Shelter
Instead of using up valuable resources to build your own shelter in the middle of an environment, it is much more efficient to simply use a cave. You can dig your own miniature tunnel using your Pickaxe that you can put stuff in, according to Gameranx.
The best way to do this is near the entrance so that you can avoid having to encounter cave worms. This make-shift shelter will let you ride out the storms on the alien planet without having to unlock wood construction.
Focus on Your Speed
Arguably the most important skill you should focus on is Speed as the game itself involves a lot of running around.
You can spend your Talent Points on various speed-related skills to let you unlock speed boosts in the Survival Tree. You can also gain the ability that gives you +20% speed when you have a knife equipped.

Progressing through the game, you will find that many Talents will work relatively well with any build that you want to make. These are considered Core Talents that will improve your character in very meaningful ways, Screen Rant said.
Make a Good Early Game Build
During the early stages of Icarus, you should put Talent Points in Robust Explorer and Swift Survivor. These give you increased health and movement speed, respectively. The former is especially important as it lets you survive for much longer than you otherwise would have.
You then have a choice between several skills, such as Dense Packing, which increases your carrying capacity. This is particularly useful in the early stages as you will gather a lot of different materials in the world.
Unlock New Materials
One of the core features of Icarus is its building system and this uses a variety of different resources and materials. It is useful to unlock a beam from any of the available materials that let you put skill points to floors, walls, and many others.
You should also allocate several skill points to repair hammers because these will be needed in order to fix damaged construction pieces, according to PCGamesN.
