'Gears of War: E-Day' Update: The Coalition Confirms OG Marcus, Dominic Voice Actors are Returning

Developer The Coalition confirmed that the original voice actors for Gears of War's Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago will be reprising their roles in Gears of War: E-Day.

The two voice actors are John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro. They will once again be working with the studio for the upcoming prequel title. The news was announced on X via the official Gears of War account that posted an image of both voice actors.

Before the confirmation, many fans have already expected that the OG voice actors will be reprising their roles. This is especially true given how heavily the reveal trailer for Gears of War: E-Day focused on the two characters.

But the fact that neither of the two characters could be heard talking in the trailer, fans were still unsure of whether or not this would actually be the case. The latest reveal comes as good news to fans of the franchise as the upcoming prequel seems to be going back to its roots, according to Pure Xbox.

Fans are now waiting for even more footage for Gears of War: E-Day for any hope that they could hear the original voice actors. A lot of people have no doubts that John and Carlos will absolutely bring back the original feel of the characters.

Gears of War: E-day's story takes place before the mainline games even started. It focuses on Emergence Day, which was the day when the Locust horde crawled its way to the surface of the Earth to attack humanity.

This means that other protagonists, such as JD Fenix and Kait Diaz, will not be seen in the game as they are only introduced later on in the franchise. However, the prequel will show how Marcus and Dom got their powerful bond, IGN said.

The developer also told fans earlier this year that the upcoming prequel title will give the team a chance to return to its foundations with the Gears of War franchise. One particular element that will be making a comeback is the horror factor that the first three games were popular for.

An interview with brand director Nicole Fawcette and creative director Matt Searcy gave fans more details about the upcoming game. They said Gears of War: E-Day is basically a what-if story of the developments in the game's lore.

In Gears of War: E-Day, the story takes place 14 years before the first mainline entry in the series. During this time, Marcus and Dom are still young soldiers in the Coalition of Ordered Governments, according to Game Spot.
