Hunt: Showdown 1896 is getting its first crossover character with a new update that adds the Ghost Face cosmetic from the Scream franchise.
The update will arrive on Oct. 24, 2024, and is known as the Ghost Face Rampage DLC. It will include the character's skin as well as two weapons and a tool. The weapons that are featured are Hush and Whisper.
Ghost Face Rampage DLC
The former is a Frontier 73C Silencer and the latter is a Bornheim No. 3 Silencer. The new toolset is also designed for a stealthy playstyle that goes well with the theme from the Scream franchise.
Similar to games like Dead by Daylight, Ghost Face has been given a makeover to suit the world of Hunt: Showdown 1896. These include his clothes that feature a 19th-century-style hat and duster jacket.
The iconic Ghost Face mask is also now made out of wood instead of rubber as the former was more common during that era. This is the first time that the game has done a crossover event and was somewhat expected due to the ongoing event Harvests of Ghosts, according to Game Spot.

The Ghost Face cosmetic comes as Hunt: Showdown 1896 has had a bit of a mixed reception the past few months. The game has maintained a pretty solid player count on Steam after adding a new map in August.
However, its UI update was criticized for its bad controls, confusing layouts, and prominent store tab. This resulted in the game receiving roughly 10,000 negative reviews on Valve's gaming platform in August.
Hunt: Showdown 1896's Popularity
Some of the player complaints focused on the idea that the game is becoming more like a live-service title with its interface. It is getting more and more visible microtransactions that players argue are messing up with Hunt: Showdown 1896's West shooter vibes, PCGamer said.
Players who are eager to get into the Ghost Face vibe in Hunt: Showdown 1896, can purchase the new DLC for $9.99. It will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on Oct. 24, 2024.
The developers said that the redesign for Ghost Face was interesting to work on because it had to be able to fit into the game's gritty, dark setting. They explained that the wooden mask was weathered and cracked.
Despite its general feel, the Ghost Face Rampage DLC is the first time that Hunt: Showdown 1896 has had a horror-themed collaboration, according to WCCFTech.
