The Atari 50 is getting more than a dozen new games alongside the upcoming Wider World of Atari paid DLC.

Developer Digital Eclipse revealed all of the 19 titles that are going to be added to its interactive museum. The studio said in June earlier this year that more Atari 50 was coming, noting that 39 more games would be joining the original selection.

This was part of a new Expanded Edition planned before the year ends. It would include two new timelines that explore different facets of Atari's history. These are the Wider World of Atari and The First Console War.

The two of these will be released as separate packages of DLC for existing Atari 50 owners. The first DLC launches on all platforms on Sept. 26, 2024. The topics that it covers include a "deep dive into Stern electronics' robot-blasting Berzerk" and many others, according to Eurogamer.

It also includes unusual and underappreciated innovations as well as hidden gems from the late 1980s. The paid DLC also puts a spotlight on the artist Evelyn Seto. They helped create the iconic "Fuji" Atari logo.

These will span across eight new video segments and will come alongside interviews, vintage ads, and many more. These are then followed by 19 playable games, such as Football and Frenzy's arcade versions.

The Wider World of Atari will be on sale for $7.99. On the other hand, The First Console War DLC will be released on Nov. 8, 2024, NintendoLife said.

The interviews in the Expanded Edition include talks with various developers and key figures in the video game industry. It also follows the history of Atari from its origin in the 1970s, its transition into arcades, and its groundbreaking consoles.

Dozens of New Titles

The new timeline of the DLC will cover some of the Atari 2600's innovations as well as the importance of video game preservation. The second DLC will include 20 additional games for retro lovers as well as six video segments.

The First Console War will focus on the rivalry that grew between the Atari 2600 and Mattel's Intellivision, which marked the original console war. The DLC's release will also coincide with the arrival of the physical version of Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Expanded Edition.

Players can buy this for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 with a price tag of $39.99. But for $49.99, you can get some extra special treatment with a Steelbook version of Atari 50 that will have Atari 2600 art cards and mini arcade marquee signs as well as a business card for Al Alcorn Replica Syzygy Co., according to Game Rant.
