Balatro is a highly popular roguelike deck builder and its latest update, which is free, has added a variety of popular characters from other games, such as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher franchise and Dave the Diver.
The new Collaboration Pack is a crossover that adds optional face card backs from not only The Witcher 3 and Dave the Diver but also from Vampire Survivors and Among Us. Players can unlock the card cosmetics through a new "deck settings" menu that lets them customize their decks with new cards.
Balatro's Latest Free Update
Balatro developer Localthunk said that having the conversations for the collaboration was "surreal." They added that some of the biggest names in gaming praised their little project and wanted to partner together.
Moreover, the official X accounts of The Witcher, Among Us, and Vampire Survivors all expressed their excitement about the collaboration on social media. The surprising crossover proves just how popular Balatro is as a game, according to PCGamer.
The latest crossover pack is the first in a promised series of cosmetic collaborations for Balatro. The publisher, Playstack, also said that more new cards will be released for players to enjoy later this year.

The company also teased more news regarding Balatro, noting that the latest reveal is the second of three announcements that were promised earlier this month. The first was a "major gameplay update" that is set to arrive next year and the third is still a mystery for now.
Each of the games' themes and mechanics are included in the new collaboration pack. One example is Dave the Diver can slash through multiple cards and imposter cards make an appearance similar to Among Us, said GameSpot.
Adding Popular Characters
The trailer showcasing the new cards was relatively short and it was not quite clear to what extent each theme shuffles the deck. However, due to the new content being free, it has made players very excited to try out the new cards added to Balatro.
The roguelike deck builder came out on all major players earlier this year and was immediately able to receive critical and commercial acclaim. A previous review for Balatro called it "the sort of fun that threatens to derail whole weekend plans," according to IGN.
LocalThunk also said that the new update brings new ideas and strategies to the game and was made as a token of huge appreciation to Balatro's brilliant and passionate community.
