The sequel to Lies of P, developer Neowiz's critically acclaimed souls-like game based on the story of Pinnochio, may have open-world elements as suggested by a recent job listing.
A little bit after the game's launch in 2023, Lies of P director Ji Won Choi confirmed that there is a sequel being developed. Given that the game itself wasn't even a year old at the time, it is highly likely that the sequel in question will still be worked on for a few more years.

The new job listing for a Field Level Designer at Neowiz specified that the studio was looking for candidates who have experience working with open-world games. Potential hires were also asked to have played a wide variety of open-world titles, according to ComicBook.
On top of this, the new hires were also preferred to have a history of developing titles such as these. The job listing also specifically mentioned that the role is tied to Lies of P 2, or whatever the official name of the sequel will be when it is officially announced.

Players who have already finished Lies of P may probably know where Neowiz is going to take the series moving forward. In the original game's final cutscene, the character Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz is briefly mentioned.
Lies of P was originally created on Unreal Engine 4 and the developers have announced their plans to shift over to Unreal Engine 5 for the sequel. On top of this, the original game followed a linear path but the transition to an open world is considered an ambitious move by the studio, said Insider Gaming.
Potential Open-World Elements
The original game followed the story of Geppetto's puppet, Pinnochio, who awakens in the Belle Epoque era. Here, the streets flow with human blood as the previously thriving puppet industry has gone rogue.
Players take control of Pinnochio develop a unique combat style and use their Legion Arm in order to defeat dangerous foes. There will also be times that you need to lie in order to progress the story further.
The one-year anniversary of Lies of P is coming next month and fans of the game are still clamoring for its DLC. However, this may not come by the end of the year but Neowiz could be aiming for a Q1 2025 release for the new content.
Many fans are also hoping that they could get new information during the Tokyo Game Show that is scheduled to be held next month or even at The Game Awards in December, according to GameRant.
