Developer Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake, revealed new information regarding the production of Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes.

It revealed that Control 2 was now in the "production readiness stage" and is already playable while the remakes for the two Max Payne games have already entered full production. The studio made the reveal in its latest financial earnings report.

Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes

The developer confirmed that the sequel for Control has "passed the proof of concept stage and has progressed to the production readiness stage." It is worth noting that the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are in full production nearly a year after reaching the same "production readiness stage."

Going by that same timeline, it is expected that Control 2 will enter full production sometime around June next year. The fact that the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes have entered full production means that Remedy Entertainment is now actively working on them, according to IGN.

The community is widely expecting that the two games will be released in a bundle featuring the titles released from 2001 and 2003, respectively. The situation comes as Remedy Entertainment's only multiplayer game in development right now is Condor and it is also in full production.

The developer said that the team has worked on several maps and different mission types for the game and organized a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting. The latter was done for feature validation and feedback.

The remakes for the two Max Payne games were confirmed by Remedy Entertainment in 2022 as part of a collaboration with Rockstar Games. In other news, the developer's other title, Alan Wake 2, has not yet sold enough units to start generating royalties for the company, said Eurogamer.

Other Games in the Works

This is despite the game launching to significant critical acclaim and the studio noted that it was able to recoup "most of its development and marketing expenses" for the game. The developer also highlighted "excellent" press reviews and fan feedback for the Night Springs expansion that is coming out this year.

Remedy Entertainment also said that the physical edition of Alan Wake 2 is expected to come in October later this year. This reveal coincides with the game's second DLC, The Lake House, where players will explore a "mysterious facility situated on the shores of Cauldron Lake."

In May, the studio canceled a Tencent collaboration codenamed Kestrel that freed up resources and people for the developer's existing franchises. The team has since been weighing self-publishing and related business models, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.
