Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is shaping up to be the best entry in the franchise as fans get a glimpse of some new features in a recently released trailer for the game.

The recent information shared by developer Asobo Studio showed fans that they will be able to exit their aircraft and explore the outdoors. Microsoft Flight Simulator chief Jorge Neumann also shared some news and exciting features in the upcoming game.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's New Features

The team has improved the visuals of every single airport, oil rig, and lighthouse and also added glider airports. This comes alongside "hundreds of species of animals that run around" the overworld.

It was also said that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is simulating "every ship on Earth" via their transponder signals. Neumann claims that all of the areas in the game can be landed on by players, noting that it marks a new era of making games, according to Eurogamer.

On top of these, the game's trees have also seen some improvements and Neumann said that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has the capacity to feature every tree on the planet. He explained that they have machine learning to look it up.

He noted that they found out all of the trees, even down to the point that they know what species it likely is. Neumann said that they then planted trees, trillions of them, which was all done in run time, which makes it pretty accurate.

Improving the Game's Visuals

Talking about bug fixing in a game that has a literally global scale, Neumann said that they have a lot of factors that go into this kind of work. He noted that they have aerials which is a form of satellite imagery as well as aerial imagery across the Earth, said PCGamer.

He noted that they refresh these every three years or so, which means that basically, the entire planet gets refreshed. Then, they have something that is known as the digital elevation map, which he described as being the height field.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is set to release on Nov. 19, 2024, and will be playable on Xbox Series X/S and PC via the Windows Store and Steam. Players who have PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions will also be able to play the game when it comes out.

Other than the new exploration feature, the game will introduce new aviation careers, such as Search and Rescue, Cargo Transport, and Air Ambulance, according to Techopedia.
