Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 revealed new, detailed information regarding the upcoming game's returning Zombies mode.

This is what Activision and developer Treyarch called a "purely round-based" Zombies experience earlier this week. The game's Zombies mode will start after a group of former Requiem members are liberated from the remote Terminus Island complex in the Philippine Sea by Maya Aguinaldo and Dr. William Peck.

Maya is also one of the four playable Operators in the latest Zombies mode and she fights alongside Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, and Mackenzie "Mac" Carver. Unfortunately for all of them, Terminus Island is a bio-research station for what is known as Project Janus.

On top of this, the pesky Dark Aether undead are shortly up and running once more to lay waste to whatever is in their path. Terminus Island is the first of two Zombies mode maps that the studios have revealed, according to Eurogamer.

The four players who enter the fray must work together to discover and complete various objectives to escape the maximum-security complex. All of this must be done while fighting off waves, or "rounds," of undead.

The developer called the recently revealed map "one of the largest round-based Zombies maps ever created." In it, players will also be able to freely explore various landmarks, such as the prison area, ocean, and smaller islands that are accessible via Tactical Rafts.

The latest news comes in Activision's 44-part Zombies "intel barrage" that covers how Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Zombies mode will work. It included information on unlockable routes, power-ups, Perk-a-Colas, and the random box, said PCGamer.

New Features and Other Content

Zombies mode in the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise seems to be building off of the well-liked format of 2020's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This is where it featured a crafting system and permanent upgrades.

The official blog read, "For the first time in Zombies, you can elect to save your Solo match at any time, provided you are at full health, aren't downed, dead, or actively engaged in an Exfil."

Players will be able to load the save file to continue their fight and the game will automatically save the game state after enough time passes that they are AFK.

The new routes that are introduced in the upcoming Zombies mode involve accessing blocked areas. This is done either by unlocking doors or removing obstacles, both of which will cost players Essence, according to the Call of Duty blog.
