Despite being wildly popular, Baldur's Gate 3 is giving players a real run for their money with its Honour Mode, where if you die, it's all over.
Since Larian Studios introduced this ultimate challenge, over 1.2 million gamers have tried to beat it, but only about 141,660 have actually made it through. That's just under 12% who have survived the mode's killer combo of permadeath and tougher enemies.

Baldur's Gate 3 Honour Mode Toughens Up
The world of Baldur's Gate 3 has never been one for faint hearts, and Honour Mode is proving just how hard things can get. Only 12% of players have completed the challenging mode since the game's launch last year.
This daunting statistic shows the mode's difficulty, where any slip-up means the end of the road.
Honour Mode builds on the already difficult Tactician Mode by adding stricter conditions like permadeath and a single-save system. This means players can't reload earlier saves to avoid bad outcomes, which ramps up the challenge significantly.
Reports revealed that out of the 1.2 million who have dared to tackle this mode, 141,660 emerged victorious-proof of its toughness.
Interestingly, when players do lose, they're faced with a choice. The majority, around 76%, choose to delete their save, starting from scratch, while the remaining 24% opt to continue their adventures in a less stringent Custom Mode.
This decision point adds a layer of strategy to the game, as players weigh their attachment to their characters against the lure of completing Honour Mode.
Creative Tactics Beat Tough Odds
Despite the challenges, the appeal of Honour Mode in Baldur's Gate 3 is undeniable. Players have come up with inventive ways to beat the odds.
One player managed to complete the mode by repeatedly using what's considered the game's weakest spell, while others have imposed additional restrictions on themselves to up the ante.
The community's engagement goes beyond just battling tough enemies.
Larian Studios announces that it has been played by more than 10 million players across the world. And while Honour Mode is steep with challenges, that doesn't seem to deter the game's huge player base from going through one of the most difficult experiences in modern RPGs.
