Arrowhead Game Studios just released Helldivers 2's Escalation of Freedom update on Aug. 6, 2024, which brings with it a ton of new features as well as new enemies, including the Impaler.
These monstrous creatures look similar to chargers with their large bodies but are equipped with three extended tentacles that can be difficult to deal with. The Impaler comes in what is the developer's biggest content update to Helldivers 2 to date.
Helldivers 2 Impaler Enemy Guide
These enemies can be found on Terminid-infested planets and are very aggressive. Impalers are capable of sending their tentacles through the ground and will follow and hunt players across the arena.
When their tentacles spot you, you would most likely need to take down the main body if you want to escape successfully. This guide lists some recommendations on how to face these monsters and come out alive, according to Sprotskeeda.
The spot that you should be focusing on when fighting Impalers is the monster's torso. While you can still attack the tentacles, they have very high mobility, which makes them difficult to target with your weapons.

While avoiding the tentacles' attacks, you should trace them back to the main body and shoot them until they drop. Despite Impalers being one of the largest enemies in Helldivers 2, they don't really have a lot of armor.
Going against one Impaler is simple enough as the tentacles are not relatively fast but the issue is when multiple monsters group up against you. The recommended way of dealing with these enemies is to use a Spear, Orbital Railcannon Strike, or anything that could kill a Charger, said PCGamer.
Recommended Strategies
Using a Spear rocket is probably the easiest way to kill Impalers but any other anti-armor Stratagems that can kill Chargers or Bile Titans will also work. Another thing to keep in mind is that Impalers will sometimes open their faces up, leaving their weak points.
Just remember that keeping your distance from Impalers is generally not advised as their tentacles can still reach you. Instead, you should approach them quickly after avoiding their attacks to take advantage of their weak points.
A sign that the monster's tentacles are going to attack you are rumbling sections of ground where they will eventually erupt from. If you are looking to battle these new enemies, you can find them on missions of Hard (5) difficulty or higher.
Players can also find missions to eliminate Impalers at this difficulty in certain Terminid worlds and the objectives will involve hunting them down and slaying two of them, according to GamesRadar.
