Microsoft has now confirmed that 2023's Modern Warfare 3 will land on Xbox Game Pass this coming Wednesday, July 24. This will make Modern Warfare 3 the very first Call of Duty game ever added to the incredibly popular subscription service.

Microsoft Pulls Off the Huge Move with Call of Duty on Game Pass
That's actually a pretty big change in how Call of Duty games are distributed, especially considering Microsoft owns Activision, the publisher of the franchise, since October 2022. In an Xbox Wire post, Megan Spurr, the senior community lead for Game Pass, confirms that Modern Warfare 3 will be playable for Game Pass subscribers starting tomorrow.
Impact of Acquisition
The inclusion of Modern Warfare 3 on Game Pass cements Microsoft's strategic step in boosting its gaming ecosystem. With Activision now in the fold, this is the first major step to bringing Call of Duty into what Xbox can offer. This deal also halts PlayStation exclusive content that Modern Warfare 3 had, shifting all future content onto Xbox platforms.
Along with this, Xbox has announced that several tiers of Game Pass will get a price increase. While existing Console tier subscribers can retain their current Game Pass subscription plan and related pricing, prices will be higher for Game Pass Ultimate, PC, and Core tiers. A new Standard option will be made available for new subscribers, though it will not have day-one releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The upcoming beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be the first to take its title to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC at the same time, offering non-stop excitement.
