PS5's Latest Update Features Shareable Links, Stability Improvements

Sony has rolled out a new update for the PlayStation 5, which enables users to easily get into gaming with the inclusion of shareable links for multiplayer sessions, among other enhancements. This update, version 24.05-09.60.00, will enhance connectivity and system stability between players.

Shareable Links for Multiplayer Sessions

There are new shareable links so that players can directly invite people into their multiplayer games. First announced in May, the feature is live today. For this to occur, a player simply needs to use the "Share Link" setting on their game session action card to create a QR code. Other players will be able to join the session by scanning the QR code via mobile device. This is only for open game sessions available to all players, of course.

Additional Enhancements and Stability Fixes

Apart from the shareable links, this update introduces a few more features. Key among such features is the support for voice commands whereby players will now launch a Game Help action card with only their voices by saying, "Show Game Help." This functionality is currently available in English and only to PlayStation Network users in the US and UK.

This update also brings optimized system software performance and stability, updates to the device software for some DualSense wireless controllers, and improved messaging and usability features on some screens. These come as changes in Sony's continuous process of fine-tuning the PS5 experience.

The update began rolling out for all players on July 24. The full patch notes can always be viewed for more information on these changes.
