Get Star Citizen for Free This Week Before the Deal Ends!

Star Citizen, a game developed by Cloud Imperium Games, is free right now as part of a special offer that will last until July 19, 2024.

The offer comes as part of the developer's latest Foundation Festival and during that window of opportunity, players will be able to try out 10 ships.

They can also enjoy various features, such as stripping wrecks, busting asteroids, or fighting against other pilots. There are also a variety of festival-themed discounts for players who already own the game.

The game initially went into pre-production in 2010 and was announced to the public in 2012 before being slated for release in 2014.

Star Citizen was able to garner hundreds of millions of dollars in crowd-funding over the years and players were recently invited to splurge an entire housing deposit's worth of pocket money on starships.

But with the latest offer, there are a few ships that are part of the Foundation Festival this year, including the C1 Spirit, which is described as a "versatile cargo hauler." Players who may not like this particular starship can buy a pack of paintjobs to customize however they want, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

Developer Cloud Imperium Games described the Foundation Festival as a "civic program in-lore aimed at strengthening community spirit." It added that the festival introduces an expanded "new player experience" that is available for new and returning players.

The studio also said that there will be a Guide System that will connect veteran pilots with newcomers to help them on their space-faring journey.

During the festival, Guided Session participants will be able to earn bonus rewards every weekend with up to two sets of armor and weapons as long as they participate in at least two weekend sessions.

Cloud Imperium Games also teased that there is talk of the release later this year of the long-awaited Pyro system. This is an outlaw system that is teeming with vast riches and dangers in equal measure.

The developer added that is what urged Foundation Festival event organizers to take advantage of the opportunity to ensure that all citizens are flight-ready and prepared for what will come their way in the near future, said Eurogamer.

Players who are looking forward to participating should note that there are currently three starter bundles that are available at a discount. These are designed to "make it easier than ever to get onboard" Star Citizen.

All three bundles will include a game download, bonus ship paint, extra in-game aUEC, and ship insurance. Being free for this week comes as the game is finally pushing for a version 1.0 release, said director Chris Roberts earlier this year.

If you want to get started over in Star Citizen, you can go to the fly free page and click on the "Enlist" button. To get more details about the latest event, you can visit the Foundation Festival 2024 page which shows what freebies and experiences are available, according to PCGamer.

The latest news also comes as the developer of the game was ordered last week to pay more than $35,000 to a disabled former employee who brought a discrimination claim against the studio.
