Concord Early Access Beta Becomes Available to PS Plus Subscribers This Weekend

Sony's latest team-based hero shooter, Concord, will be having its early access beta this weekend and all PlayStation Plus subscribers can play it without having to pre-order the game.

The studio had previously planned to get Concord into early access beta weekend for PlayStation 5 and PC to be available only for those who pre-ordered the game. However, Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Firewalk Studios changed their minds and are now inviting PS Plus members to play.

The pre-loads for the PlayStation version of the new hero shooter's beta are now live and it will open on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. PDT. It will be running through Sunday, July 14, 2024.

There will also be a second beta test that will be open to all PlayStation 5 and PC players and will run from July 18, 2024, to July 21, 2024. Players who pre-ordered the game will still get an early access code and four more codes that they can give to their friends, according to Polygon.

Players who get into the game's early access beta this weekend will include three different modes; Trophy Hunt, Cargo Run, and Clash Point. The first is described as a "respawn-based mode" where players will fight against other teams to collect bounty cards to earn points.

The second mode is where players are not able to respawn and teams will have to compete to retrieve a package, plant it at a zone, and defend it against enemy teams. The last is a round-based mode where players' teams will fight to take control of a capture zone in the central location of the map.

The game's open beta weekend will also offer a fourth game mode, Area Control where player teams will fight over multiple capture points and try to hold them. The studios behind the hero shooter first revealed its gameplay and characters during the State of Play in May 2024.

Open to All PS Plus Subscribers

The news of the early access beta was announced in a PlayStation Blog post that also noted that players' progress from the two beta phases will not carry over to the full game. However, those who participate will earn themselves a Lil' Frog Weapon Charm and Star Flare Business Card, said PushSquare.

Sony also noted that during Concord's early access and open beta, all 16 of its launch Freegunners will be unlocked and available for players to use and customize. These include individuals who specialize in sniping from afar, providing support, or diving head-first into the battle.

The studio also noted that it has been a while since they last checked in with the Freegunners of the North Star. It added that they will be sharing their first Vignette during the early access beta and are excited to share new information with players.

The upcoming beta will feature four different maps for players to get a feel for; Freewater, Star Chamber, Water Hazard, and Shock Risk. A new map will also be introduced in the open beta and is known as Bone Mines, according to the PlayStation Blog.
