GreedFall 2 Launches Early Access on Steam

GreedFall 2: The Dying World, the sequel to the 2019 RPG GreedFall, known for its unique blend of action and player choice, will make its initial debut on Steam early access from September 24 this year.

The game, developed by Spiders, follows a Teer Fradee native displaced to the continent of Gacane three years before the events of its predecessor. Players are tasked with using diplomacy, cunning, or combat strategies to thwart ambitions threatening both continents and their homeland.

The announcement follows the surprise success of the original GreedFall, which sold 2 million copies despite initial skepticism due to its rough edges. Spiders, the developer, revealed plans for the sequel in 2022, focusing on expanding the game's world and narrative depth.

Full Release Coming to Consoles

In GreedFall 2, players will explore new landscapes from Olima to Uxantis, encountering factions vying for power and uncovering ancient secrets. The game's Steam page emphasizes player-driven narratives and strategic decision-making amidst political intrigue.

Spiders confirmed the early access launch date in March, emphasizing the importance of player feedback to refine gameplay mechanics, including new combat systems. Updates will be released regularly post-launch, leading up to GreedFall 2's full release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The studio aims to preserve the charm that endeared players to its predecessor, despite acknowledged imperfections. Eurogamer contributor Malindy Hetfield, in her review of GreedFall, praised its passionate world-building despite gameplay flaws.
