Mary Kenney, the Associate Narrative Director for Insomniac Games' Wolverine project, has announced her departure from the studio. She will be joining CD Projekt Red, the developer behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Kenney will take on the role of senior writer for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, currently known as Project Orion.
In a recent post on LinkedIn, Kenney shared that her first day as a senior writer for CD Projekt Red was on the other day, July 9, 2024. She expressed excitement about her new role, mentioning that she looks forward to returning to RPGs. Kenney praised her new team for being talented, welcoming, and cool, and said she is eager for this new adventure.

Impact on Marvel's Wolverine and Project Orion
Insomniac Games is working on a new game based on the Marvel superhero Wolverine. This PlayStation 5 exclusive was announced in 2021, but its release date is still unknown. The game made headlines during a ransomware attack on the studio in December 2023, which led to leaks about its development.
Kenney's move to CD Projekt Red has raised concerns among fans, with some speculating that Marvel's Wolverine might face challenges without one of its key writers. However, it's likely that the narrative work on the game is nearing completion, given its long development period.
On the other hand, CD Projekt Red is just starting the development of Project Orion, so hiring top talent like Kenney makes sense. The studio is gearing up for this sequel, aiming to build on the success of Cyberpunk 2077.
