Balancing Tradition and Technology

Furukawa highlighted that the company's focus is on maintaining the quality of its successful brands rather than chasing the latest hardware trends. He pointed out that the Nintendo Switch, despite being around for seven years, continues to sell well because of this strategy.
In contrast, competitors like Electronic Arts, PlayStation, and Microsoft/Xbox have adopted generative AI in various aspects of their operations. Nvidia, known for its AI-enabled chips, has become one of America's most valuable companies due to its generative AI advancements.
The gaming industry's integration of AI has been marked by uncertainty and mixed results. While AI promises new features like NPC generation, it also raises concerns about human roles, such as voice acting, and has coincided with layoffs in the industry. Nintendo's cautious approach reflects its commitment to innovation while preserving its unique identity in the gaming world.
