A classic Xbox game on the OG console, Age of Pirates: Captain Blood, has seemingly come back to life 20 years after it was initially announced in 2004 and subsequently faced several delays and has since stayed silent.

The game was revealed during E3 of 2004 but later that year it was delayed by a huge redevelopment effort. Rumors after that suggested that Age of Pirates: Captain Blood was going to be released in 2009, which is half a decade after it was announced.

Despite a new trailer coming out for the game in 2010, it still did not release and the next year also went by without an official launch. For so long, Age of Pirates: Captain Blood was plagued by so many development issues that people just collectively forgot about it.

But a full two decades after it was unveiled, the game is seemingly coming out and coming back to life after it released a re-release trailer. Despite this, there are still many people who are skeptical about the situation due to the game's history with release, according to ReadWrite.

Age of Pirates: Captain Blood will reportedly come this fall and will be available on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The latest trailer also showed gameplay footage that suggests the upcoming game is based on the last build that was seen in 2010.

This could be why some of the models shown in the "new" video game look like they came straight out of an Xbox 360 action game.

That is primarily because the original game was actually an Xbox 360-era title. However, the new title seemingly has enhanced lighting, and fans are hoping it features solid performance.

There are already some people who were able to play the game when its finished build was leaked online in 2022. From what was seen in the leaked copy, it doesn't seem like Age of Pirates: Captain Blood is a groundbreaking title.

However, the game could set itself apart from recent titles that focus more on open-world settings using its linear single-player action mechanics. This is something that was extremely popular during the time of the Xbox 360 console, said Kotaku.

Age of Pirates: Captain Blood is a pirate-themed action game that is set on the Spanish Main in the 17th Century. You will take control of a fearsome pirate who is on a quest for gold and glory across the seven seas.

Players should expect wild adventures filled with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and a lot of pirate shenanigans.

The hack 'n slash game also features intense hand-to-hand combat and you can fight off hordes of enemies in a classic fighting system that has flashy combos and epic finishes.

The game will pit you in deck battles where you will be able to fire your ship's cannons to fend off bloodthirsty enemy crews. You will have to collect gold in order to upgrade your fighting skills, buy new weapons, and become the most feared pirate on the seas, according to Steam.
