Unprecedented Storage Demand
The Xbox.com store page for Black Ops 6 reveals the game's size, setting a new record for the franchise known for its hefty install requirements. While Call of Duty games are notorious for taking up significant storage space, Black Ops 6 surpasses all previous entries. This install size has not yet been confirmed for other platforms, but the Xbox versions will need considerable space.
Black Ops 6 will be integrated into Call of Duty HQ, Activision's launcher for all current Call of Duty experiences. It is unclear how the total install size will be divided once the game is fully downloaded. The 309.85 GB might be the maximum size if all Call of Duty games and Warzone are installed together. Activision has been asked for clarification on this point.
Players can manage the game's overall size by choosing specific parts to install, but enjoying the full experience of Black Ops 6, including its campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes, will still require substantial storage space.
New Beginnings and Content
Black Ops 6 was fully unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase and Call of Duty Direct event. The game promises a "fresh start for everyone," meaning that content from Modern Warfare 2 and 3 will not carry over into Black Ops 6. However, Black Ops 6 content will be integrated into Warzone.
The hefty install size is indicative of the expansive content that Black Ops 6 promises to deliver. Set in the early 1990s, following the events of Black Ops Cold War, the game is expected to feature a rich narrative tying back to the 1980s flashbacks in 2012's Black Ops 2. With 16 new maps, including 12 core 6v6 maps and four smaller Strike maps, the game is poised to offer a comprehensive and immersive experience.
