Marvel Contest of Champions Update Adds Northstar, Arcade to the Battle

Kabam has just released a new update for Marvel Contest of Champions, adding two new characters to the popular superhero fighting game. Following the recent introduction of Silver Sable and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, players can now greet the arrival of the assassin Arcade and the mutant Northstar to the game. The update also introduces a new Saga called Arcade Games.

New Characters and Their Abilities

Northstar, also known as Jean-Paul Beaubier, is a member of Alpha Flight, a well-known Canadian superhero team. He is a gold medal-winning Olympic skier and possesses mutant abilities that include hypersonic speed, flight, and photonic energy blasts. He lives on the mutant sanctuary of Krakoa with his husband, Kyle, and their daughter, Joanne.

Arcade is a hitman known for his dramatic flair. Unlike other mercenaries, Arcade creates complex traps called Murderworlds to eliminate his targets. Though he often targets the X-Men, his failures have damaged his reputation. Now, he joins the Battlerealm with hopes of reclaiming his former glory.

Gameplay Changes and Release Dates

In this update, heroes in Marvel Contest of Champions will find themselves in chaos. The story begins with Northstar responding to an Alpha Flight distress call in New Manhattan, which turns out to be a trap. Players must team up with Northstar as Player Two to navigate and survive the dangerous challenges set by Arcade.

Arcade became available in the game on June 6, with Northstar joining the roster a few weeks later on June 27. To see how these new characters compared with others, players could refer to the Marvel Contest of Champions tier list of the best superheroes.
