The new game will have players traveling from planet to planet in order to recruit, manage, and gun sling alongside a team of 13 outlaws. Each of the latter has its own weaponry, special power, and growth tree.

You will also be able to wrangle loot and start showdowns that are played out in intense, bite-sized shootouts on various planets. The titular Wild Bastards were considered the deadliest gang in the galaxy until a posse from the puritanical magnate Jebediah Chaste eliminated one outlaw after another.

Now, facing their own mortality, the last two remaining members have joined forces with the Drifter, which is a mysterious sentient spacecraft. They will set out to find and resurrect the dead gang members as they flee to the mythical Homestead, according to Gematsu.

The game's key features include intense first-person shooter combat that requires you to be tactical if you want to overcome crafty enemies. The latter are able to take advantage of cover to avoid attacks and also employ a variety of special moves, including teleportation and homing poisonous quills.

On top of the combat, Wild Bastards lets you build and maintain relationships as while the gang members know each other, they are not necessarily all on good terms. Players will need to manage the members' dynamic relationships properly to keep them riding together in harmony.

You will also need to accumulate enough resources in order to heal injured gang members, level up various characters, improve relationships, and many more.

When it comes to combat, you should evaluate each planet's terrain, enemies, and traits before selecting the gang members that you want to fight with.

An Intense Strategy, First-Person Shooter

The surprising behavior of the enemy AI also makes it difficult at times to determine whether battles are actually advantageous for you or not. While others utilize cover, some enemies, such as the Kyotes, move to flank you in flanks, forcing you to keep an eye on your back at all times, said PCGamer.

However, the Rattlers are even more dangerous as they can pop up out of the ground to spit poison at you. For this type of enemy, you will need to listen for the rumble of disturbed soil to get the best chance of defeating them.

Creative director Ben Lee also talked about Wild Bastards, saying that the team started pre-production three months after the release of Void Bastards. He added that they began with a fairly broad remit and it took a long time for the new game to actually take shape.

Lee said that they put a lot of effort into the characters' unique playstyles, visuals, and fully-voiced dialogue. The game itself focuses on much more complex combat encounters compared to its predecessor, according to GameSpot.
