Fans of The Witcher have been shown the first look at Liam Hemsworth taking on the role of Geralt in the fourth season of the show following the departure of Henry Cavill.
The exclusive look comes after two years of waiting after Cavill left the series in October 2022 in order to go back and don the Superman mantle. Shortly after that, Hemsworth was cast as Geralt and many fans of the show had their doubts about the decision.

It was later revealed that Hemsworth was almost cast in the role for the first time around and he made a good enough impression to get called back when they needed a new actor. The latest teaser does not feature him speaking and his face is only seen when he turns to face the camera at the very end.
While the look seems to be good initially, the majority of fans are eager to hear what Hemsworth actually sounds like. This is because Cavill did an amazing job at capturing Geralt's low, raspy tone, which apparently happened by accident, according to PCGamer.
On top of the exclusive look, paparazzi photos have also leaked from the set of The Witcher season 4 which is currently in production in the United Kingdom. They show Hemsworth sporting the Geralt look.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich said that Hemsworth's look has been in development for more than a year now. She said that it was exciting to finally be able to share an official sneak peek of the actor in the role.
She added that both cast and crew have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment that Hemsworth has brought to the character starting from his first day on set. Hissrich also said that they were having a lot of fun filming the show's fourth season and are eager to share it with fans.

On the other hand, when Cavill left The Witcher series, he said that his time in the show had been "filled with both monsters and adventures." He also supported Hemsworth as he took on the challenge head-on and took the mantle of the White Wolf, said Entertainment Weekly.
Cavill said that he was passing the torch with reverence for the time that he spent embodying Geralt and noted he was enthusiastic about seeing Hemsworth on the screen.
He will be joined by Freya Allan, who is returning as Princess Cirilla, Anya Chalotra, who is returning as sorceress Yennefer, and Joey Batey, returning as minstrel Jaskier.
The first images of Hemsworth as Geralt also generated confusion among fans because it seemed like they were reshooting the fight between the White Wolf and Vilgefortz. This was a battle that the series showed off in Season 3 when Cavill was still in the role.
The answer was that it was an introduction scene for Hemsworth as he becomes Geralt in the show's fourth season. It was being done through differing accounts of the legendary fight between the two characters, according to Redanian Intelligence.
