Call of Duty: Warzone players have only a week left to play one of the game's maps before developer Raven Software pulls it out of the battle royale's roster for good.

The map that will only be available for a week is Ashika Island and the developer said that the decision was made as part of efforts to provide players with a recurring, focused playlist that aims to deliver the best player experience.

Raven Software also said that the focus will now shift towards other map-mode combinations for future playlist updates. The map, Ashika Island, was initially introduced to the game in February last year as part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's year of Warzone 2.

With the removal of the map, it means that Call of Duty: Warzone's Urzikstan is the standard large map. This also means that Vondel, Rebirth Island, and Fortune's Keep will be in rotation for the small map Resurgence modes.

Raven Software's announcement statement also noted that Ashika Island is leaving the rotation for Modern Warfare 3.

This leaves some hope among fans of the franchise that it could somewhat return in the future, similar to how Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep returned from Warzone 1, according to GameSpot.

The removal of the map comes as Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 4 update is scheduled to launch on May 29, 2024. The upcoming patch includes the return of an iconic rifle and also brings a Gundam collaboration and a DNA mystery for players to uncover.

Call of Duty: Warzone is the enhanced sequel to the original Warzone game and offers an expansive battle royale experience that continues to evolve with new updates, content, and maps. Ashika Island is noteworthy as it is a compact, fast-paced map that many players enjoy playing in.

The game's maps continuously change with every update that Raven Software brings to Call of Duty: Warzone. They introduce new points of interest and make various environmental changes that ensure fresh and engaging experiences for players.

Upcoming Season 4 Update

Ashika Island was developed by High Moon Studios and was designed for the Resurgence game mode. This particular map is popular among players for having faster-paced gameplay and quicker respawns, said GameRant.

The area is set in an archipelago in an undisclosed location and includes various and diverse points of interest. Ashika Island's terrain features rocky bluffs, industrial warehouses, a subterranean submarine base, as well as a port. All of these combine to provide players with varied tactical opportunities.

On the other hand, the Season 4 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone brings plenty of new content and changes to the franchise. While there are usually three new weapons that are included in every new Call of Duty season, there is only one that has been confirmed so far.

This is the fan-favorite classic German weapon, the KAR98K bolt-action sniper rifle. Activision teased the weapon in a gift that was sent out to multiple streamers, including a toy car with the number "98" painted on the side as well as the letter "K" printed on the packaging, according to PCGamesN.
