There are rumors claiming that Valve is working on a brand new Overwatch-style 6v6 shooter known as Deadlock which was previously known as Neon Prime and Citadel.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a lot of new information about the upcoming game. The rumors claim that Deadlock will be a third-person hero shooter that features teams of six people on a large map with four lanes to attack.

The game will also feature tower defense mechanics as well as various items and abilities for you to take advantage of. A social media user, known as Gabe Follower, added that Deadlock will reportedly have a fantasy setting "mixed with steampunk, Magicians, weird creatures, and robots."

The user also said that the upcoming title will also allow players to fast travel using floating rails which is something similar seen in Bioshock Infinite. The new rumors have not yet been confirmed or denied by Valve, which means that they should be taken with a grain of salt, according to Insider Gaming.

The rumors of the new game come as Valve is most popular for Counter-Strike 2, which is its highest-rated game on Steam. However, the video game developer also has a list of other highly popular titles, including Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2.

Gabe Follower's claims about Deadlock come as he previously dug out crucial information about Counter-Strike 2 before the game was officially released. While there are many fans who are excited about the new shooter, others are a little bit more worried that Valve will neglect its other competitive shooter.

For now, Deadlock is expected to be a mega project for the video game developer, which means that it will have the best people working on it. Other players are also criticizing Valve for not giving its all into Counter-Strike 2, which they say still needs a much better anti-cheat system.

Valve has recently started to release new games while also continuing to provide updates for Counter-Strike 2 to address players' concerns. More information about Deadlock is expected to be leaked or released as development of the new game progresses, said OneEsports.

Taking Inspiration From Other Titles

Gabe Follower also noted that Deadlock has hero designs that were pretty much inspired by those from the Dota universe. He added that the upcoming game's main map references a modern steampunk European city, a little bit like Half-Life.

The social media user said that the game initially had sci-fi elements that were inspired by Half-Life and Portal. However, after some negative feedback, the team behind the game decided to focus on fantasy instead.

A reputable data miner and the creator of SteamDC, Pavel Djundik, shared a blurry, low-quality screenshot following Gabe Follower's claims.

The image seemingly depicts the pre-alpha version of Deadlock and demonstrates some of the new game's heroes, its Half-Life setting, mini-map, and the user interface.

Both Gabe Follower and Djundik have their reputations to uphold, which means that it is highly unlikely they will share what they believe is disinformation. However, since Deadlock has reportedly been in development since the late 2010s, it could have gone through substantial changes, according to 80lv.
