Pokémon X and Y News: Viewers of Latest Pokémon Movie, 'Cocoon of Destruction,' Get Two Free Legendary Pokémon [VIDEO]

Japanese Moviegoers Get Diancie and Darkrai When They Watch 'Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction'

Thanks to streaming services, it's rare that I get out to the movies. Faced with the prospect of talking viewers, stale popcorn, and sticky floors, I'd rather just watch a movie from the comfort of my own couch. But Japanese movie buffs are being offered a nice incentive for going to see the latest Pokémon movie, "Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction" when it opens in theaters this summer.

According to Destructoid, those who go see the flick on the big screen will net themselves two free Pokémon - Dark-type Legendary Darkrai, and the star of the movie, the dual-type rock and fairy Legendary Diancie. Diancie is capable of producing a massive amount of diamonds instantaneously by compressing air between its hands, and hurling them at enemies. The 719th pokémon comes pre-loaded with Diamond Storm, Moonblast, Reflect, and Return moves. Head here to see Diancie in action.

"Coccoon of Destruction" revolves around a showdown between the titular legendaries of the latest games, Yveltal and Xerneas, as opposing forces representing destruction and life respectively. It opens July 19, 2014, so expect Diancie to hit Pokémon X and Y sometime after that.

You can check out a fairly confusing trailer for the movie below.

Pokémon X and Y released lin October to rave reviews as well as great sales numbers. As a matter of fact, Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda's recently revealed that since launch, over ten million of the little monsters have been exchanged since the game launched. It's also reported by Nintendo Life that Masuda expressed interest in making more Mega Evolutions.

The games represent a radical change for the franchise, the top down perspective having been replaced with more of a three quarter perspective, and battles look radically different. As per usual, players will see several new pokémon, 5 of which were teased in the game's trailer at the time of the announcement. There's the usual array of new starter Pokémon, and each game will play host its own type of new, legendary Pokémon. And what's more, a number of classic Pokémon have earned mega-evolutions they can transform into during battle.

No DLC is planned for the games.
