Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare to Hit PC Soon According to Datamined Code

New evidence suggests that the long-awaited PC port of Red Dead Redemption is finally on its way. A well-known GTA dataminer, Tez2, recently posted new code from the Rockstar launcher site, revealing that Red Dead Redemption and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, will soon be playable on PC. The code contains the phrase: "Journey across the vast expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare, now available on PC."

Past Ports and Player Reactions

Red Dead Redemption was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. Last year, it received ports for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, which were well-received but left some fans wanting more.

Many were disappointed by the lack of graphical improvements, with the PS4 version locked at 30fps. A 60fps option was later made available for PS5 players, but the $50 price tag sparked some complaints. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company, defended the price as "commercially accurate."

Rockstar's PC Release History

Rockstar Games is known for delaying PC releases. Both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were released on PC a year after their console debuts. This pattern seems set to continue with Grand Theft Auto 6, which will launch on consoles next year, but no PC release date has been announced. Rockstar has not explained its reluctance to release games on PC at the same time as consoles, leaving fans to speculate on the reasons.

Fans of Red Dead Redemption have waited 14 years for a PC version, and the latest findings suggest that their patience will soon be rewarded.
