Bohemia Interactive has announced the upcoming Frostline expansion for DayZ. Scheduled for release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in late 2024, the expansion introduces players to the icy landscapes of the Sakhal Archipelago. Drawing inspiration from the sub-arctic Kamchatka Peninsula in northeastern Russia, the new map promises a fresh and challenging experience for players.

A Sneak Peek into Frostline's Snowy Wilderness
In a recent trailer, gamers got a glimpse of what to expect from the Frostline expansion. The trailer opens with sweeping views of mountainside radio towers, transitioning to scenes of a zombie-infested port and a grazing deer. It showcases various terrains, including a hot spring, a derelict mine, a rusty pipeline, a forested mountain, and an abandoned town, all set against the backdrop of snow-covered landscapes.
While the expansion is currently available for wishlist on Steam, Bohemia Interactive has confirmed its release on both PlayStation 4 and 5, expanding its accessibility to console players.
"Sakhal holds both allure and peril, promising a DayZ experience unlike any other," expressed Bohemia Interactive. Players are encouraged to explore, hunt, and survive while uncovering the mysteries hidden beneath the frostline. Whether teaming up with fellow survivors or braving the wilderness alone, players will face the challenges of this perilous winter wonderland.
New Features and Challenges Await
According to Bohemia Interactive, the Frostline expansion introduces the volcanic Sakhal Archipelago, spanning 32 square miles (83 square kilometers), excluding ice sheets. The expansion brings forth new animals, diseases, an updated fishing mechanic, and winter-themed cosmetics. Among the new cosmetic items are modern winter gear and an impressive wolf pelt hood.
However, Frostline also presents unique challenges, including the management of warmth in freezing temperatures. Players must also contend with the dangers posed by local wildlife and the treacherous volcanic terrain. "Preparation is key to survival," says Bohemia Interactive, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of nature's wrath.
