Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is an innovative city-building game from solo developer Tomas Sala that just got a major update for free with its Tribute, Trade, and Spoils patch.
The latest update brings a variety of new features and changes to the base game and is the first part of a planned year of major updates that Sala previously showed in a roadmap. The launch of the new patch provides fresh mechanics to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles.

These focus on diplomacy, enemy pillaging, new ships and captains, as well as a variety of improvements that aim to improve the user interface, cinematics, and endgame. The new features added in the Tribute, Trade, and Spoils update focus on the introduction of "splinters."
This is a new currency that is found when players successfully take down enemies or are gathered through world events.
They can be used to build extractors and they are also tied with the game's diplomacy system and affect the trading expertise of the new captains and ships, according to PCGamesN.
All of the brand-new additions welcome a new dimension to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles which seeks to deepen the possibilities inherent to the game's experience. In celebration of the launch of the first major free update, the game is being discounted by 20% on Steam.

The first major free update comes earlier on PC via Steam but will later be available to PlayStation and Xbox users on May 17, 2024. In it, players can now use new diplomacy mechanics to conquer their enemies and turn them into "vassals."
When units are captured, they can be offered as a tribute to other factions that players are warring with as a means to reconcile and bring about peace. Sala himself has urged players to provide feedback about the game so that they can help shape Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles alongside him, said GamesPress.
Tribute, Trade, and Spoils Patch
Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles was said to be sitting at the city-building crossroads of "relaxed" and "something more." The game itself is trying to be more of an easy-going king of title, as nothing fundamentally bad happens when the wheels stop turning for a moment.
It also lets players, for the most part, build where and however they please to build up their metropolis. However, it starts to get more bogged down with the mechanics of its resource flow, worker management, and conquest and expansion.
The game features a sort-of campaign mode that includes three starting scenarios as well as a free build mode that lets players build all they want. This particular game mode lets you build and build to your heart's content.
While you are allowed to conquer the seas, there are no real objectives or victory conditions that let you focus on a specific goal. This lets players set their own path to what they want to do and while it could feel freeing, it could sometimes make the game feel directionless.
Players who want to provide feedback for Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, whether it be for complaints or bug reports, can do so at the game's official Discord. X, formerly known as Twitter, is also a reliable way to let Sala know about any problems that they have, according to Xbox Era.
