Mirthwood is an upcoming sandbox farming simulator that just released a new trailer showcasing how players will be able to ride into battle on their pets.
The game, developed by Bad Ridge Games, seems to have been inspired by the highly popular farming sim Stardew Valley but also by Fable, Sims, and RimWorld. Mirthwood seems to be trying to give players as much freedom as possible.
Mirthwood Allows Players To Ride Pets Into Battle
The newly released trailer also showed off more farm customizations, processing goods, and the demands of the game's winter season. It rehashes some of the things that players have already learned about Mirthwood last year.
These include that the game is a simulation-focused world where villagers have their own daily schedules to attend to, weather and disasters are likely to strike, and a socialization system. The latter lets players gain and lose favor with their neighbors through various actions.
However, the trailer also expands upon Mirthwood's refining stations that you will have access to, buying livestock from markets, and paying local townsfolk to work on your property. Probably one of the biggest new reveals is the gridless decorating mode, according to PCGamer.
And in the winter season, players will have to be prepared because they could potentially be forced to butcher their animals to have enough food supply. However, one thing that many others are probably excited about is what was mentioned as a "companionship" system for both humans and animals.

Bad Ridge Games said that pets are not just for show as they can travel with players and assist them in battles and adventures. Additionally, players will be able to engage in falconry, which adds a unique layer of strategy and bonding with other creatures.
Mirthwood has been releasing frequent development blog posts regarding the game's features over the past year as it gets ready for its launch. While the game does not yet have a set release date, it is expected to come out in the second half of this year.
Massive RPG Farming Sim
While the game was only announced last year, it has already reached more than 100,000 wishlists on Steam. Mirthwood separates itself from other games in the genre with its medieval setting, RPG mechanics, and vast exploration, said MSN.
The farming aspect of Mirthwood goes beyond simply tilling and planting as players are able to cultivate a variety of crops, rear diverse animals, and craft exquisite artisan goods. It also features versatile building modes; freeform, grid, and snap.
These combined allow players to construct their dream homestead exactly how they imagine it. It also brings a new exciting dimension of companionship with pets. In Mirthwood, every sunrise brings new opportunities and every companion has their own backstory.
The game's open world comprises six diverse regions and three distinct towns and much for players to discover. You will also have to take up a sword or bow and engage in real-time combat as Mirthwood pits you against a variety of enemies.
With every action, players will be able to improve their skills and by performing them, you will gain access to skill cards that can be equipped to unlock powerful modifiers, according to GamesPress.
