Nintendo has taken action against the Yuzu emulator, wiping out 8,535 repositories on GitHub with a single DMCA takedown notice. This move follows the company's recent success in shutting down the open-source Switch emulator.

GitHub Response to Nintendo's DMCA Notice
According to TorrentFreak, Nintendo filed a DMCA notice with GitHub targeting repositories allegedly providing access to the Yuzu emulator. GitHub, in response, processed the takedown notice against the entire network of repositories, including the parent repository, due to the reported network size exceeding one hundred repositories.
GitHub reached out to the owners of the affected repositories, offering them an opportunity to make changes and providing guidance on filing a DMCA Counter Notice, along with legal resources if needed.
Impact of Nintendo's Legal Actions
This development comes shortly after Tropic Haze, the developer of Yuzu, agreed to pay Nintendo $2.4 million in damages and cease all operations in response to a lawsuit. The settlement also imposed a permanent injunction on Tropic Haze, preventing the distribution or trafficking of Yuzu and other software that circumvents Nintendo's technical protection measures. This injunction extends to Citra, the Yuzu team's 3DS emulator.
Nintendo's crackdown on emulators coincides with changes in Apple's iOS App Store policy, allowing video game emulator apps onto its platform for the first time.
