Jobs Cut and Projects Cancelled
Last month, Take-Two announced significant changes in its operations, including layoffs affecting hundreds of employees and the cancellation of projects worth $140 million. Today, it proceeded with the closure of studios responsible for games like Kerbal Space Program 2 and OlliOlli World.
An employment notice filed in Washington State revealed plans to lay off 70 employees at Intercept Games, located in Seattle. Additionally, staff at Roll7 in London received confirmation of their termination. Both studios were part of Private Division, Take-Two's label for smaller, unique games.
Impact on Ongoing Projects
Take-Two assured continued support for Kerbal Space Program 2 and the upcoming release of Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game. However, the fate of ongoing updates for Kerbal Space Program 2 remains uncertain following the closure of Intercept Games.
Roll7's Journey
Roll7, established in 2008, gained recognition for its hit game OlliOlli, a pixel art skateboarding game released in 2013. Following Take-Two's acquisition in 2021, Roll7 released OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome, both well-received for their innovative gameplay.
Roll7's founders expressed optimism when joining Take-Two, aiming to focus on creating significant projects without the constant search for funding.
