Valheim Showcases Ashlands Biome in Upcoming Update, Adding New Enemies, Weapons

Valheim has showcased its latest biome, Ashlands, as well as various new enemies and weapons that players can encounter in the newest content update.

The information about the upcoming update has been revealed as Ashlands is currently available to test publicly. Others who have already journeyed through Valheim's other biomes anticipate the new area to be a difficult challenge.

The latest biome prior to the Ashlans is Mistlands, which brought with it formidable enemies, steep cliffs, and visibility challenges. There are only Ashlands and Deep North left for players to conquer within Valheim's story. This is why many fans are expecting the last two biomes to be the most difficult so far.

Surprisingly, however, the dangers that Ashland brings begin before you even set foot on the biome itself. To get to the new area, players will have to construct a ship using parts acquired from the boss of the Mistlands biome.

The ship that is created with these materials is the only vessel that is immune to damage from the boiling water that spans the length of the journey to the Ashlands. As you slowly approach the biome, you are greeted with a forest of pointed rocks, according to Eurogamer.

The game's senior developer, Jonathan Smars, also noted that Ashlands will be "really difficult," adding that it's "going to be endgame." Something that is not typical of other biomes is that Ashlands is not bordered by any other region.

This means that the only way to get to it is via the sea, making the journey a challenge in and of itself. Furthermore, it also means that once players arrive on land, there will be no easy way back to other areas.

Players who want to establish themselves on Ashlands should look for a quiet spot to build their strongholds in order to place a portal. However, even this can be difficult as cinders rain down from the sky that can set wooden structures ablaze.

A Whole New Challenge

The Ashlands update will also feature a horde of new enemies and more notably, new weapons for players to equip. These include a new set of "flametal weapons" that can be wielded and imbued with various powers, such as lightning and nature magic, said Rock Paper Shotgun.

The new enemies include a bone spider creature and the environment of the biome itself also becomes lethal. The new area is said to bring an array of new building pieces to further reinforce players' settlements and also expand the cosmetic options that building enthusiasts have currently.

Also, the Charred forces are entrenched in the region and their fortresses cannot simply be raided and destroyed. They have tall black walls surrounding their bases and they are equipped with devastating ballistas and have undead soldiers and mages that rain fire on their enemies.

Valheim is an open-world survival game by Iron Gate Studio that became an instant hit when it was released publicly in early access in 2021.

Players immediately loved its diverse biomes, a wide assortment of enemies and equipment types, addictive base-building mechanics, and Norse mythology theme, according to Windows Central.
