Star Wars Outlaws Pre-Orders Starting Soon as New Story Trailer Could be Released This Week

Pre-orders for Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws are set to start soon as a new story trailer for the game is expected to come later this week.

Many fans of the game have taken the announcement of the trailer as confirmation that Star Wars Outlaws will launch sooner rather than later. Ubisoft has historically published story trailers relatively close to games' release dates. There is also the fact that various countries have already rated the new title, including South Korea, Brazil, Australia, and potentially the U.S.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, journalist Jordan Maison shared that GameStop is preparing promotional materials for the opening of the Star Wars Outlaws pre-order program. GameStop, alongside other major retailers, is expected to open pre-orders shortly after the release of the story trailer on Apr. 9, 2024.

Star Wars Outlaws is powered by Ubisoft Massive's Snowdrop Engine and features NVIDIA DLSS 3 and RTX Direct Illumination/RTGi support on PC. The game is trying to realize the first true single-player open-world Star Wars experience, according to WCCFTech.

The game's developers also wanted to offer fans of the series a completely seamless transition from the cantina on a planet's surface to flying into space with the Trailblazer, which is an EML 850 light freighter from the Republic era.

Space in Star Wars Outlaws is said to be dangerous but also filled with opportunities for players to take advantage of. The game will feature intimate dogfights but also showcase massive conflicts against large spaceships while giving players the chance to discover and explore the universe.

Thanks to the title's distinct planet profiles that each feature unique stories, wildlife, ecosystems, and situations, the Star Wars feeling is also present. Players will take control of protagonist Kay Vess, who is an outlaw scoundrel. They will encounter various jobs and favors from different characters and factions.

The World Premier Trailer for the game established that the Star Wars Outlaws world is set during the events of the original trilogy, specifically between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, said Digital Trends.

However, Star Wars Outlaws does not focus on that particular conflict but instead centers around the criminal underworlds of the Outer Rim. Fans are introduced to the protagonist, who is described as someone who is seeking freedom and the means to start a new life.

The footage also showed Kay Vess being confronted in a bar by a few thugs while she was playing cards on a table. This encounter prompts an explosive escape. Following a few more cuts, the protagonist meets Jaylen on her ship, who offers some sort of a deal.

Kay Vess is joined by her companion Nix who goes anywhere and everywhere and is crucial in giving the protagonist the edge in many dicey situations. While information that has so far been revealed, the protagonist does not have force powers.

The game's ratings differ in various countries as in Brazil, it is rated "T" for teen, "19+" in South Korea, and "M" for mature in Australia, according to ReadWrite.
