Once Human is a new multiplayer survival game that has the typical features of a title in the genre, including base building, resource gathering, and basic combat.
What sets it apart from other games, which has caused it to become the 11th most-wishlisted game on Steam, is its creepy yet beautiful nightmarish creatures and environment. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world that follows an outbreak of a form of cosmic energy known as Stardust.
Once Human Final Closed Beta
Stardust has left everything on Earth a little bit wacky, which made even public transport a transfigured mess. Before the game's final closed beta test, which is set to begin on Apr. 3, 2024, and planned Q3 launch, the development team gave some players a chance to try out what Once Human will soon bring to players worldwide.
The monsters in the game are of Lovecraftian creature design and feature organic-machine hybrids that possess weird and beautiful forms that can either be dangerous or useful. The disfigured bus falls under the latter category and will not harm the player but instead provide them with transportation, according to IGN.
Despite not being an aggressive monster, players should still be careful should they find their base being inadvertently trampled if it is in the bus' path. The walking automobile has scheduled routes throughout the Nalcott Continent's massive open-world map.
When the bus arrives, it may already have a contingent of Deviant baddies riding on it, which players will have to quickly defeat before riding the vehicle. This system poses a unique mechanic that provides a balance of risk and reward.
While Once Human has a story and a path of main missions, it lets players do virtually anything they want as they can ignore these objectives and just play at their own pace. The world and content designer of the game, Peng "Victoria" Sun, explained that they wanted the game to be fascinating for players.
New Content in Response to Community Feedback
The build notes ahead of the final closed beta test revealed that there is a new story task, called "Once Here," where players will have to investigate the secrets of Blackfell and the forgotten existence of its first-ever mayor, said MMORPG.
The residents of the town don't even remember his name and players will have to find out what is actually happening and what ties the mini-story to the game's greater lore. Once Human is a mysterious survival game narrative that lets players become the Sherlock Holmes of a monster-filled world.
There will also be a new PvE scenario that players can experience, called Manibus, where they join others in fighting aberrant creatures, exploring terrain, and defeating the Manibus. The new content comes as a response to community feedback where PvE content is preferred over PvP.
The game also has a mobile beta version that will start alongside the PC version and will be available in the United States, Canada, France, and Germany. Players who want to participate need to meet the minimum hardware requirements, such as SD 8Gen1, Dimensity 7000, or iPhone 13, according to Sportskeeda.
