Maximize Pet Friendship
Before embarking on your quest for a pet turtle, ensure you've cultivated a strong bond with your existing Stardew Valley pet. Pets, like cats and dogs, have a maximum friendship level of 1000 points, which you can increase by regularly tending to their needs, such as petting them or filling their water bowl. Keep track of your pet's friendship level through the Animals tab on the menu.
Obtain a Pet Bowl
To accommodate your new turtle friend, you'll need to purchase an outdoor Pet Bowl from Robin at the Carpenter's Shop. Each Pet Bowl costs 5,000 gold and requires 25 Hardwood. Collect Hardwood by chopping down Mahogany Trees and stumps on your farm. Remember, you can only purchase a Pet Bowl if you've already reached maximum friendship with your current pet.
Adopt Your Turtle Companion
Once your Pet Bowl is in place, head over to Marnie's Ranch and interact with her. From Marnie's dialogue options, select "Adopt Pets" and choose the turtle you desire. There are two types available: the Green-shelled Turtle, priced at 60,000 gold, and the Purple-shelled Turtle, which comes with a heftier price tag of 500,000 gold. After paying the required fee, you'll have the opportunity to name your new turtle companion.
Welcome Your Turtle Home
Upon completing the adoption process, Marnie will swiftly dispatch your chosen turtle to your homestead. Be sure to choose a name that resonates with you, as it cannot be altered once the adoption is finalized. Your new turtle pal will be waiting for you when you return home, ready to embark on adventures alongside you.
Pro Tips: Keep in mind that Marnie's shop operates from 9 AM to 4 PM daily, except on Mondays and Tuesdays. Additionally, Marnie's Ranch remains closed on Fall 18 and Winter 18, so plan your visit accordingly to avoid disappointment.
With these straightforward steps, you'll soon have a turtley awesome companion to accompany you on your Stardew Valley escapades. Happy farming!
