Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra released its first trailer, showcasing some of the action-adventure game's playable characters, pitting Captain America against Black Panther.
The first look at the game was shown during Epic's State of Unreal keynote. It is the latest game from Marvel with help from writer and director Amy Hennig, who is best known for her work on the Uncharted franchise.

Marvel described the setup as players assuming the role of four central characters, a young Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, Azzuri, the grandfather of T'Challa who is the Black Panther during World War II, Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a spy from Wakanda who was embedded in Occupied Paris.
Epic previously featured Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra because it was being built using the most current version of the Unreal Engine, 5.4. Additionally, the game's trailer proved to be quite the visual showcase for the engine's capabilities, according to The Verge.
In 2019, Hennig first announced her current studio, which is under the Skydance Media umbrella. While the public has not yet seen any of the studio's works until now, it is clear that the team was relatively busy.
The newest game was first announced in 2021 and a Star Wars game was announced to be in the works in 2022. The two titles are part of a growing lineup of big-budget games from Disney, which has recently hired developers such as Insomniac, Quantic Dream, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Respawn, Arkane, and several others to help with its efforts.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra's first revealed trailer showed fans its cinematics and a bit of its gameplay. In a separate blog post, casting for the game was revealed and wrote Khary Payton as Azzuri, Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers, Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones, Megalin Echikunwoke as Nanali, and Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark.
On top of being made using Unreal Engine 5, the latest Marvel game would also include MetaHuman Animator. This is the same facial animation tool that will be used by Ninja Theory for its upcoming project Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, said IGN.
An Action-Packed Adventure Game
MetaHuman Animator allows any developer taking advantage of the technology to use an iPhone or stereo helmet-mounted camera to "reproduce any facial performance as high-fidelity animation" on its characters. This would be seen as an opportunity to provide players with more realistic facial animations.
It was also previously announced that Hennig's new game would have an original story that is set inside the Marvel universe. Hennig's new game is a linear single-player experience that would have players switch control of several characters at different points. This would provide different perspectives on the narrative as well as on the war.
The main point of conflict between Captain America and Black Panther within the game's world is that they do not approve of each other's methods of fighting against the Nazis/Hydra. They oppose the groups for their own personal reasons.
While the release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is slated to be sometime in 2025, the platforms where the game would be released have not yet been announced, according to GameInformer.
