Warner Bros. Discovery, publisher of the embattled third-person shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, admitted that the game did not pan out the way it had hoped.

Fallen Short

Gunnar Weidenfels, Warner Bros. Discovery's Chief Financial Officer, said in a recent earnings call that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has fallen short of expectations. This is after the $70 game bombed so hard ever since it was released earlier this month.

The company wanted Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to follow in the footsteps of Hogwarts Legacy, which is another game published by Warner Bros. Discovery, which went on to become the best-selling game of last year.

The poor sales figures are not really surprising at all considering that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launched with a plethora of issues. For one, those who purchased the Deluxe Edition were promised that they could play the game a few days before everyone else. However, that did not happen as expected because of a major bug.

In the first week of release, players discovered that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is pretty bland, especially in the endgame. Most of the fights happen outside due to the game's reliance on each character's traversal mechanics.

What's worse is that some of these issues pertain to the core foundations of the game, which may not be addressed until the developers do a massive overhaul.

For example, no matter which character from Task Force X the players choose in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, they would still end up using the same weapons. While this is understandable for certain characters like Deadshot, this does not make sense for King Shark or Captain Boomerang.

At the time of writing, only 876 players have played Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in the last 24 hours. This is proof that players are not willing to stick around since there are other games worth their time, attention, and money.

Still Redeemable?

So, is there still hope for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? It is still too early to tell, but the game now has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, which is a good sign. Some players have praised the game's fun mechanics. However, most people agree that it has a weak plot that could have been better.

Unless the developers can shake things up, there is little to no hope for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

But what do you think? Can the game still bounce back after its dismal performance or not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
