Metal scraps are abundant in the game and can be acquired by defeating enemies. The drops of defeated foes often contain metal scraps, making them a reliable source. In the Cinder Vault starting area, breaking metal urns with a pickaxe yields metal scraps. Additionally, hunting Scavenger enemies near the Braelyn Bridge area proves lucrative for obtaining metal scraps.

Abandoned villages and towns are treasure troves for metal scraps, as they can be found on benches. Destroying metal furniture and objects also provides a steady supply of scraps.

One metal scrap is all that's needed to craft nails. However, unlocking the Blacksmith is a prerequisite. Completing the Sleeping Survivor quest, building a shelter for the Blacksmith, and utilizing the Summoning Staff tool to place him in your base are the necessary steps.
