Activision's popular and highly successful first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 still suffers from a lot of cheaters. This is despite the recent upgrade of the game's Ricochet anti-cheat system.

Cheaters Running Amok

Season 1 Reloaded for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was launched not long ago and competitive players try to defeat the opposition to slowly rise to the upper echelons. However, legitimate players soon realized that cheaters have become rampant even in Ranked Play. As a result, they went to Reddit to voice their anger about the situation.

Redditor TSM-HabZ posted a video of a cheater who was able to eliminate the enemy by shooting through walls even when they did not have a line of sight. This is likely due to a wall hack where cheaters could gain information that is not normally available without the use of such tools.

While one can forgive bad actors from using hacks in any other game mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it is unacceptable if these cheaters ruin the experience of those who play the game competitively.

Redditor TemporaryCreative653 expressed their frustration about the current state of the game. "Games used to come out and anticheat worked for a year or two before floods of hackers came," they said.

Another Redditor shared their recent bouts with cheaters in Hardcore Mode. They said that cheaters would aim down sights and shoot through walls to eliminate their foes. The disgruntled player added that they did not recall Modern Warfare 2 to be this bad in terms of bad actors running amok.

More Work to Be Done

In a previous blog post, Activision revealed how it continues to improve Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Ricochet anti-cheat system by utilizing machine learning.

According to the company, machine learning helps the development team anticipate behavior better to quickly and accurately thwart cheaters as they come.

The Modern Warfare 3 development team also implemented the "Splat," which would cause cheaters to fall face-first to the ground if Ricochet was able to detect the presence of hacks.

Despite these advancements and tweaks, however, the development team should go back to the drawing board and do something about the current situation, especially since cheaters have already plagued Ranked Play to an egregious extent.

So, have you played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 competitively since Season 1 Reloaded dropped? If so, have you encountered any cheaters?
