Hammer of the Ancients (aka HotA) is one of the most popular skills for Barbarians in Diablo IV. Each time you use it, you deal huge amounts of damage in an area, allowing you to hit multiple enemies at once. The skill also has a couple of different upgrades to suit your preference.
Now, Diablo IV allows you to include other skills in your build. So if you are interested to know what abilities can complement Hammer of the Ancients, then you have come to the right place!
Main Skill Build for HotA
Let's start with the build's resource generator, Lunging Strike. This is used primarily to close the gap between you and the monster you're trying to kill. Go for the "Combat" upgrade so that your critical strikes grant you the Berserking buff, which increases your damage by 25% and movement speed by 30%.
Our core skill for the build is none other than the Hammer of the Ancients. As soon as you are able to upgrade it, go for "Furious" because it allows you to deal more damage for each point of Fury spent.
War Cry gives you an insane damage boost, especially if you are able to enhance it. When upgrading the skill, go for "Power" so that your damage bonus is increased even further, allowing you to eliminate enemies with ease.
Since this build requires you to be up close and personal with the enemy, then taking Iron Skin is always a good idea. Activating this skill provides you with a barrier that can absorb damage equal to a percentage of your maximum life. You want to take the "Strategic" upgrade so that you gain 15% of your base life as Fortify, which reduces the damage that you receive.
Because Hammer of the Ancients spends Fury each time you use it, you want to activate Rallying Cry as well. This not only provides a considerable boost to your movement speed, but it also increases your Fury generation by 40% for a short period of time. Go for the "Tactical" upgrade if you want your Fury generation to be even faster.
Wrath of the Berserker is the perfect skill to cap off this build. When activated, your damage is increased and you are immune to any crowd-control effects for a limited time. Take the "Supreme" upgrade because every 50 Fury you spend increases Wrath of the Berserker's damage bonus by 25%.
